Tech Trek Camp

TechTrekBrief Overview

Most of us have had an A-HA! moment in our lives.  One Madera AAUW member tells her story:

Mine came during a dissection of a reportedly 50+ year old, 21 foot long, reticulated python at our local zoo. I was a high school freshman participating in a “zoo” program.  The experience changed my academic focus and propelled me into a science-related career.

Tech Trek summer science camp is just such an A-HA! opportunity for young women entering the 8th grade.  Tech Trek campers are engaged in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities on a college campus, living in the dorms, for one summer week.  The Madera AAUW Tech Trek campers spend their week at Fresno State.  In 2013 the cost to send each girl was $950.  See the Tech Trek Fresno Camp Report for 2013 for more information about the participants and activities during summer session in 2013.  Read further on this page for more detailed information about the history of Tech Trek, the application and selection process.
